A DDES Model with Subgrid-scale Eddy Viscosity for Turbulent Flow

چکیده

The original (delayed) detached-eddy simulation ((D)DES), a widely used and efficient hybrid turbulence method, is confronted with some flaws containing grid-induced separation (GIS), log-layer mismatch (LLM), slow RANS-LES transition. A novel model, namely production-limited eddy (PLES), depleting the production through introducing subarid-scale viscosity proposed. data of zero-pressure gradient boundary layer proves that good performance in mitigating GIS issue obtained from PLES model. results channel flows reveal model has eliminated LLM velocity. conformity given for backward-facing step flow simulation, which validated complex flow. More turbulent scales shear are captured by testifies faster RANS/LES switch than IDDES predicting cylinder coarser grid resolution. Due to new LES mode, behaves better simulating Furthermore, allows one use different portion other flows.

A Variational Multiscale Method with Multifractal Subgrid-scale Modeling for Large-eddy Simulation of Turbulent Flow

A variational multiscale method with multifractal subgrid-scale modeling is proposed for large-eddy simulation of turbulent flow. In the multifractal subgrid-scale modeling approach, the subgrid-scale velocity is evaluated from a multifractal description of the subgrid-scale vorticity, which is based on the multifractal scale similarity of gradient fields in turbulent flow. The multifractal sub...

Numerical Analysis of a Subgrid Scale Eddy Viscosity Method for Higher Reynolds Number Flow Problems

We develop a variationally consistent eddy viscosity model, given by [18] for convection diffusion equation, for the Navier-Stokes equations. We also prove that the new model is equivalent to a variational multiscale method. The new method removes the restriction that the fluctuations are quasi-stationary. We then give a complete error analysis. The error analysis is optimal and uniform in Reyn...

A ‘Synthetic Scalar’ Subgrid-Scale Model for Large-Eddy Simulation of Turbulent Combustion

In this paper we present an alternative formalism for large-eddy simulation that avoids the problems arising from filtering the governing equations. In particular, we instead propose to filter solutions leading to the ability to directly model subgrid-scale primitive variables; i.e., model physics rather than statistics. We then demonstrate construction of subgrid-scale models of scalar quantit...

A new subgrid eddy-viscosity model for large-eddy simulation of anisotropic turbulence

A new subgrid eddy-viscosity model is proposed in this paper. Full details of the derivation of the model are given with the assumption of homogeneous turbulence. The formulation of the model is based on the dynamic equation of the structure function of resolved scale turbulence. By means of the local volume average, the effect of the anisotropy is taken into account in the generalized Kolmogor...
